Boehringer Ingelheim - Pulmonary Fibrosis Campaign

We set out to create an internal campaign for Pulmonary Fibrosis on behalf of Boehringer Ingelheim. The project was the brainchild of Josh Sam. Like all location shoots, choosing the right home with a variety of rooms and possible scenes made for a smooth shoot day. You can manipulate the scene with lighting to a certain extent. We both agreed on a realistic feel for all photos. The camera used here was the Fujifilm GFX100S with either the 80mm f/1.7 or the 105mm f/5.6 Tilt-Shift.

The main motivational light for all these scenes was an Aputure 600d with a Fresnel, positioned outside in the cold. We also mixed in some flash for fill and rim lighting. The ability to dial in color for the window light created an early-morning feel, even though it was mid-day. We were a slim team, so the cloudy weather helped reduce the ambient light. Profoto B1 flashes were also used to create a rim light and little splashes of light on the kettle.

This image was created with the Fujifilm 105mm f/5.6 T/S. The ability to frame a scene and then shift left and right for a panorama solved our problem. Leaving adequate negative space was essential for all the copy. The ability to crop later in post-production made for a worry-free capture. The only issue is the resulting 400-megapixel image.

II enjoy being part of campaigns that tells stories. Being involved in projects that could help people will always take priority. People have always been my focus, and I will continue to invest my time and skills in the projects that matter most.
